The topic of this thesis is altruism as it is manifested in the texts of the Old and New Testaments, in the social doctrine of the Church and in Confucianism. Altruism is described as a very abstract concept that originated and came into use in a certain polemic against religious concepts, and attention is given to how further usage has blurred this polemical edge and how Christians themselves use it. The thesis compares the concept of altruism with the specific concepts of amor, eros, caritas and agape in the Christian tradition. The concept of altruism in the Western tradition of thought from Aguste Comte to contemporary sociobiologists is discussed. An excursus into Chinese culture shows an ethical system with different starting points. The social doctrine of the Church as a response to current problems and new currents of thought is presented from the late 19th century to the present.

The Death of Jesus - Sacrifacing himself for the People of God for Gerhard Lohfink

The aim of this thesis is to analyze, present and evaluate the concept of Jesus' death as a sacrifice for God's people in selected texts of the German New Testament exegete Gerhard Lohfink (b. 1934). The thesis briefly introduces the author's life and his areas of research. The second part presents the basic thought structures through which Lohfink approaches the life and mystery of Jesus of Nazareth. This second part also includes a brief christological analysis of Lohfink's texts. While the second part is mostly christological, the following section is focused on soteriology. This chapter is focused on Jesus' death itself. It shows the deep Old Testament background of Jesus' gestures and sayings. Lohfink's interpretation of Jesus' death then culminates in its conception as a covenant sacrifice that Jesus offers on behalf of God's people. Then, in our author's thinking, lays Jesus down his life for Israel, the church, and the world.

Christ's Sacrifice: a Paradigm of Life as the True Worship

The aim of the work is to present Christ's sacrifice as an example and model for the Christian life on the basis of the study of biblical texts. The thesis is divided into chapters, the first of which discusses what a sacrifice is, what it is for, what its character may be, and how worship in the Old and New Testaments is related to the offering of sacrifice. The second chapter focuses on Old Testament sacrifices, the development of sacrificial rites, the handling of sacrificial gifts, and explains the meaning of sacrifices offered to God in the Old Testament. The third chapter gives attention to the prefigurations of Christ's sacrifice in the Old Testament, and the fourth deals in detail with Jesus' sacrifice, which begins with his incarnation and culminates in his death on the cross. The fifth chapter looks to the New Testament letters and psalms for concrete ways to follow Jesus in daily life. Christ is the pattern and image after which man was created. He took on human flesh to serve people and to show them in himself what a life focused on the good of others looks like. The Christian is called to follow Christ and has a chance to do so the more deeply he understands the meaning of his sacrifice. This is what the work seeks to contribute to.

An Old Testament text and its paraphrases

The aim of the bachelor thesis is the comparison of the book of Esther from the Old Testament with its selected paraphrases and a critical evaluation of the work of the authors of the paraphrases with the text. The thesis first briefly introduces the story of the book of Esther and its main character. Then the contents of the book of Esther in the Czech study translation of the Bible (Masoretic text) are compared with the contents of the book of Esther in the Czech translation of the Jerusalem Bible (Septuagint). Subsequently, selected paraphrases in both versions are compared according to a predetermined structure. The assessment of the texts was carried out using the method of comparative analysis, where the main differences and similarities of the compared works were pointed out. As a result, it was also evaluated how the paraphrase changes or does not change the original point of the book of Esther. At the end of the work, the findings of these comparisons are summarized.

The Angel of the Lord Went Out and Slew 185,000 - Theology 2 Kings 18-20

Te biblical verses of 2 Kings 18-19 mention the military campaign of King Sennacherib of Assyria against Judah in the late 8th century BC. After conquering the fortifed cities of Judah, Sennacherib sent an ar- my with envoys from Lachish to Jerusalem, the seat of King Hezekiah. Te Judean king cries out to the Lord to spare the city. God hears Hez- ekiah's prayer and sends an angel who slaughters 185,000 men in the Assyrian camp, and Sennacherib returns to the capital of his empire, Nineveh, where he dies. Te aim of this paper is to compare the texts of the Book of Kings with other biblical and extra-biblical sources and to separate the historical and theological accounts of the verses on the basis of their comparison. Sonatas by Johann Kuhnau and their Use during Piano Lessons

This thesis deals with the life and work of Johann Kuhnau and focuses mainly on the following categories: 1. The life and work of Johann Kuhnau 2. The work for keyboard musical instruments 3. Sonatas by Johann Kuhnau 4. The use of his sonatas during piano lessons This thesis deals with a biography of Johann Kuhnau and presents his works for keyboard instruments. This is followed by a short chapter about a sonata form, its definition and progression. The third chapter is focuses on the sonatas by Johann Kuhnau, especially on his fourth collection named Biblical Sonatas which are presented here in the context of stories from the Old Testament. The final chapter focuses on the didactic and interpretive knowledge of Kuhnau's sonatas from his third and fourth collections for keyboard instruments. The aim of the work is to introduce Johann Kuhnau to reader, to point out his contribution in the field of music and to present the possibilities of working with his collections for keyboard instruments in teaching the piano at today's art schools. Haptic model for visually impaired according the wall painting depicting the story of Samson and Delilah at Chateau Kratochvíle.

This diploma thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is devoted to depicting biblical themes in the history of art from their beginnings up to the early modern period, especially in connection with the South Bohemian chateau Kratochvíle and its fresco decoration. Furthermore, the text deals with depicting the story of Samson and Delilah, which is also part of the paintings on the ceiling of the Small Gold Hall at the chateau. In connection with the practical part of the work, the final chapter of the theoretical article focuses on the issue of visual impaired people, including the creation of haptic models as compensatory aids for these individuals.The creation of a haptic model as an aid for blind visitors to Kratochvíle chateau became the goal of the practical part of the thesis. The aforementioned fresco depicting Samson and Delilah served as a model for the depiction. The resulting relief was made of sharpened ceramic argil and painted with acrylic paint. The model is accompanied by a set of sketches that were used to make it. The haptic model is primarily intended for the visually impaired, but will also serve the general public, as it should be exhibited in the Kratochvíle chateau.

Decalogue and it's influence on the daily life of the inhabitants of Vrábče.

The bachelor thesis deals with The Decalogue and its position in the contemporary Czech community. The first chapter details the past of the village of Vrábče. The second chapter consists of The Decalogue in its original meaning and their overlap to the present. The third chapter details the issue of the faith of The Decalogue in the contemporary world and in Czech society. It examines whether The Decalogue is still relevant today. Based on the knowledge and background from the theoretical part of the thesis, the fourth chapter concludes with evaluation of the conducted research and answering the research question, which asks whether The Decalogue influences the everyday life of the inhabitants of Vrábče. Quantitative research was carried out in the village of Vrábče using a questionnaire survey. The output of the practical part of this work is an evaluation of the research results, which proves that The Decalogue still has a positive influence on the inhabitants, even in today's society.
